Moana Live Action is done!

It’s 2 weeks since Opetaia and I returned from the World Premiere of “Moana Live Action” at the Hollywood Bowl and although there are those who say we didn’t need a Live Action movie of Moana just yet, it is a wonderful, positive movie that inspires, entertains and portrays the South Pacific in a way that makes everyone from the area extremely proud.

The Premiere at the Hollywood Bowl was spectacular. All the music team, all the Disney execs, all the cast and crew – anyone who had been involved with the Moana movies was there and it was wonderful to see them all again as we walked the Blue Carpet.

The event started with a cultural performance by the “Villagers of Motunui” who were joined by Catherine and Dwayne in full costume who danced the Taualuga. The movie then played on the big outdoor screen at the Hollywood Bowl with the Orchestral parts of the soundtrack performed live by the famous LA Philharmonic Orchestra – it was a truly magical evening which ended with a massive fireworks display - a fantastic way to finish our Moana journey.

Go and see the movie. I am sure you will enjoy it. Catherine, Dwayne and all the cast did a great job and the story still has all the positive messages of the first one. All the songs have been re-recorded and have some tasty additions in places. There is a one new song but all the rest are the songs from the original movie. The score is quite different though - there are a lot more Te Vaka voices in the score this time.

With the movie finished we can now get back to work and finish 2 x albums before the end of the year. Watch this space.
